Letts Music School offers limited scholarships to those who need financial support to help towards the course fee. Although priority is given to students based in Rotorua and Derby, applications are welcome from students globally. The closing date for Bursary applications is Friday 15th September 2017. The decision will be made during the following week and announced on 22nd September. Please note that the form is in pdf.

The course organisers reserve the right NOT to refund any or part of the course fees to individuals unable to fulfil the attendance requirement of the course;
The applicant agrees to abide by our Studio Policy and accepts the terms contained therein.

We offer individual piano and music theory tutoring worldwide.
Skype, Facetime, and Google Hangouts are becoming a very useful tool for teaching students, especially convenient for those who cannot travel to a lesson due to illness, weather, remoteness etc. If you have a computer with a webcam that you can move close to your piano or a laptop that you can move close to the piano, or a tablet / ipad or smart phone, then please create a free Skype account and add my name to your contacts (or add my phone to your Facetime). This will allow us to call you and have a lesson with you over the internet.
All music programmes come with the following:- a) Free membership to my studio website where you can view online video demonstrations and download piano sheet music and activities to print from home; and b) Free membership to Joytunes' "Piano Maestro" (and "Dustbuster" for the preschoolers); and c) Free email support; and d) Free access to our exclusive facebook group.
Fees: Our fees are billed on a monthly basis and payable one month in advance. Fees & Payment Terms Lesson Fees for all programmes are billed monthly in advance as follows:-
New Zealand - $90.00 NZD per month
England - £45.00 GBP per month
At this price, the student is guaranteed that Letts Music School will be prepared and present to teach for 36 weeks per year.
$50.00 NZD - / £25.00 GBP - One time only fee is non-refundable and due on registration for student materials.
For your tuition fee you will also receive the following:-
Access to log into our membership site where you can access video tutorials, supplementary activities to supplement lessons; and
Remember you can also email or telephone me with any questions you have during the week between lessons.
What does your tuition fee cover?
Tuition is not merely an hourly fee for services rendered. Each student is paying not only for music instruction at the piano, but also for a guaranteed place in our music studio and preparatory planning for each lesson. This includes hunting for repertoire, organizing recitals, planning summer music camps, researching and staying current with the latest technology, writing recommendations, attending conferences and practising.
The commitment to your child's musical advancement is a full-time effort, and goes above and beyond an hourly fee and includes the following:-
Time spent with the student - Lessons, performance classes, group lessons;
Time spent in preparation for the student - Trips to the music store, lesson planning, bookkeeping, development of curriculum, etc. It has been cited by professional music journals that for every hour enrolled in piano lessons, you are investing in at least 2 hours of the teachers time;
Your teacher’s training and experience;
Recital costs and preparations;
Programs, refreshments, facility rental;
Professional organization memberships. Memberships are maintained by the teacher to enhance their teaching skills and provide the student with opportunities for festivals, competitions, and performance events;
Publications to assist the teacher in keeping current on new teaching materials and trends;
Materials purchased by the teacher to keep costs low for students;
Property taxes, self-employment taxes, insurance, business licenses, retirement;
Tuition helps cover the increased living costs of your self-employed teacher eg. health and life insurance and pension;
Lessons and classes that keep the teacher current on methods and techniques;
Book and music club memberships; and
This enables many discounts to be passed to students.
A 50% family discount will be applied to students from the same immediate family who schedule their lessons together. A 10% family discount will be applied to students from the same immediate family whose lessons are unable to be scheduled together.
